What Is a Greenhouse Home Garden
Greenhouse home garden used to be known as Conservatories in the 19th
century. They are freestanding structures usually right next to a main
residential house property and will provide the ideal environment to grow plants
and flowers – no matter what the weather is like outside.
Plants don’t move from place to place like animals do, so they get their food
from sunlight. They also pull nutrients from the soil by capillary action. When
you soak water up in a paper towel that is similar to the capillary action that
plants use with their roots. The water flows up the roots against gravity. The
roots then enjoy the water and other nutrients in the soil, while the leaves
soak up more water and of course, the sunlight they need!
Why does sunlight help plants so much? Plants use sunlight as their energy
source, using photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which the light
is processed and used to create nutrients for the plants to sustain themselves.
How can a greenhouse help a plant and flower by keeping them from being outside
all of the time. How does a greenhouse home garden work essentially?
A greenhouse home garden is a standard structure that have a roof and walls
of either glass or translucent plastic. You can see sunlight come through the
greenhouse in different way. As sunlight is a spectrum of light waves, some of
them are invisible and depending on the material the greenhouse has used, the
material will let some of the waves in and encourage the other ones to get out
as efficiently as possible.
Infrared spectrums, or what we use to feel heat, will not escape backwards
against the greenhouse materials as fast as the visible light spectrums. The
heat in the greenhouse will help the plants and can be controlled through a
ventilation system in the structure itself as the building is typically
well-sealed.
The combined effect of all of the sunshine is that it will typically be
hotter inside than outside, which is great for the plants and flowers in the
wintertime. If you have sat in a closed car in the summertime, you have
experienced a similar thing. This is why greenhouses have the nickname of being
a “hothouse.” Greenhouses are able to control the conditions artificially in the
best way for the plants and animals. The effects of wind, the temperature
outside, the sunlight, humidity and much more are all able to be controlled
through the greenhouse’s materials, ventilation system and more.
You can regulate the amount of sunlight due to the use of the materials,
including glass, shutters and screens with the greenhouse ventilation system and
more. You can find fragile plants flourish in a greenhouse even when there is a
blizzard going on outside. With the comfortable environment inside a greenhouse,
the plants and flowers will grow happily.
Greenhouse home gardens can be a great addition to any home, providing a
specialty area for the happy homeowners. There are well construction, premade
options that will be architectural marvels.
