Electrical Systems for Greenhouse
You can have a greenhouse without an electrical system, but it will make your life much easier if you have one. Your greenhouse plants and flowers will definitely appreciate it and you will see greater results if you have a few different systems and devices set up to help you.
You will need a basic outlet system to drain and move your water, plug in heaters and much more. Sometimes, the greenhouse’s outlet system can be as intricate as a real house. Commercial greenhouses can be as big as 40’ by 60’ and will require a large outlet system. Chances are that your greenhouse is not nearly this big, but more like 10 feet by 20 feet.
Regardless, with your large structure, you will have a lot of room for all of your plants that typically do not do very well outside when they are exposed to the rough elements. With all these plants, however, you will need an array of systems to help you. And for all those systems, you will need an array of electrical outlets.
You can plug in space heaters in order to balance out the cold winter chill outside or when you have long days with no sun. You can also include a fan in the greenhouse that will regulate the air and help cool things off in the hotter summer months. Some plants will thrive in the breezes and when staying at a consistent temperature for optimal growth. You can have lights in your greenhouse to help you work in the area after the sun has gone down for the day.
There are also specialized outlet systems that you can put in besides the basic ones. You can find items that will make sure your plants and flowers get the water and sunlight they need. There are automatic watering systems are quite convenient and can be adjusted to the plants that you are working with. You can also find high speed drills and heating devices for your soil and even more exotic items that will help you with your plants and flowers. All of these items, however, will need electricity.
Want a more advanced greenhouse? You can find a greenhouse with an advanced lighting system that will let you control shutters and shades, depending on the amount of sunshine that you want to have in the greenhouse. You can find a system that will automatically know what to do. You can also find solar panel systems that will help cut down on your electricity costs and are excellent for the environment overall – which makes sense for a greenhouse owner!
You will need both 110v and 220v outlets in order to have plenty of power for all of your possible systems. You can also include special-purpose outlets for a range of other specialty items that you would want to install in your greenhouse. You can install these specialty items yourself or have someone come by that can help you with the installation, such as an electrical contractor.
Be sure to plan out your electrical outlets properly since you don’t want an outlet that is too far away from your table and where you will need it. You will need to plan for more outlets than you might even use in the future, but it’s better to have a few extra outlets than to modify it later, costing a lot of money.
