Lawn Care Tools and Lawn Garden Equipments
Some 150 years ago, people didn’t care about their lawns like we do now. Now,
your landscaping can be seen as a major investment piece in your residential or
commercial property. Before, if some grass was in the way, you’d cut it down.
Now, you can find dozens of tools to keep your green grass beautiful and in the
best shape. Some of these tools are hand-powered, while others are electric, but
they all are made to help your lawn look great.
The lawnmower is the basic tool you will need for your lawn care. You will
need to find a good one that will slice your grass down to the size you prefer.
You can get a good lawnmower that will last forever if you maintain it well.
Keep the blade of your lawnmower sharp for easier cutting and keep the spark
plug clean if the machine has one. If it has an air filter, keep it fresh and be
sure to change the oil just as you would with a car.
You will need more than just a lawnmower to keep your grass cut and looking
good. You will also need a trimmer or an edger to get those parts of your lawn
that a lawn mower is too big to get to. You can purchase the old-fashioned two
blade style with a long handle. Using this model, you can use the lawnmower to
run the blade along the patio bricks, steps and other edges of the lawn to look
sharp and clean.
The other kind of edger is a powered whirling device that shoots out a
plastic strip that sticks out a few inches. The strip will slice the grass or
plants or whatever else you want to edge. These edgers weigh a lot less, which
is wonderful and are inexpensive choices. They can last years, although the
plastic strip will need to be replaced, although this is only a couple dollars.
You will also want to get a spreader to help when laying out fertilizer, weed
killer and more. With a spreader, you can get an even amount throughout your
lawn with minimal effort on your part. This will help your lawn stay weed-free,
healthy and clean. The spreader looks similar to a small lawnmower with a small
tub filled with small holes on the bottom and a roller that will help to evenly
dispense the material within. You can use these spreader in a variety of
fashions and they are inexpensive and will last for years.
The other type of spreader will be the hand-held version. These are usually
plastic and have a rotary handle. You can use these spreaders for more
specialized tasks, including seeding or patching smaller lawn areas by throwing
the dry fertilizer beads around the lawn.
You can use your rake for raking the fall leaves in your yard. You can use
your rake to make sure that the leaves are all picked up before they cause the
grass to die underneath. The leaves that fall on the grass are similar to
blankets that we use at night. They cover the grass and can keep it from getting
water and will also cause them to get too hot. At the end of winter, these areas
will look awful. You can also de-thatch your grass after the wintertime comes
with you use your hand rake in order to get more air to the soil after the
winter snow has covered it.
