Lawn Care Equipments – How to Choose a Watering Can

How could it be hard to find a watering can? Watering cans are some of the simplest tools you can own. However, with the number of contemporary designers, you can find a number of varieties on the market now. You might find one that will fit your garden’s needs.

Different watering cans have different weights. You can figure it out that a gallon of water weighs roughly 8 pounds. You don’t want to have a watering can that weighs much more so that you’re not hauling around a very heavy can while you’re watering your plants. You can find plastic containers that are strong and won’t rust. These also will come in a variety of attractive styles and designs to suit your individual taste.

Watering cans can come in a variety of features as well.

You can find a watering can that has a detachable rose, which is where the water comes out through the tiny holes. This can be helpful to get to plants in different spots. If you have a detachable rose, you can get these harder-to-reach spots. You can also find roses with changing amounts of water they will let go through, so sometimes you can gently rain on your plants while other times, you can let a larger amount of water gush over them.

You can find metal watering cans that will typically have these features, but more and more plastic versions are adding these styles as well.

If you can handle a heavier watering can, you can buy a bigger one. A large can will hold a few gallons of water, weighing about 24 pounds in addition to the weight of the can itself. If you only have a few houseplants, this might be too heavy for you. But you can find ones that are smaller for these little plants.

You don’t have to only have one watering can, so find smaller watering cans for indoor plants and get a larger one for outdoors for your hanging plants. You can use your hose, of course, for your plants outdoors as well, but in the case that your hose doesn’t reach or is awkward, a watering can is a good alternative. Sometimes hoses can be heavy and difficult to drag around from spot to spot, so you can avoid it if you have a watering can. Larger watering cans help with a big yard where the hose doesn’t reach as well.

If your garden doesn’t have a sprinkler system, a large watering can will help as well. You can help your plants when the rain doesn’t accommodate their needs enough. You can dump three gallons of water over your plants and see them bloom and thrive during the dry weeks. If you have good soil, your soil will keep it and drain it properly.

No matter what, though, don’t let the water just sit in pools because this will encourage growth of bacteria that is harmful to people, pets and plants. Mosquitoes will also breed here, which can carry disease.
