Lawn Care Equipments – Trimmers and Edgers
The trimmer or edger tool can be an important part of your lawn and garden tool set. Very few lawnmowers have all of the features that you need, since most of them will not look that great against the edges of your patio wall, bricks or trees. You will most likely need an edger to finish the complete job and make sure your lawn looks great.
Which kind of trimmer or edger will work best for your lawn?
There are traditional edgers. These edgers have dual blades with a long wooden handle. These traditional edgers will do the job well. They don’t require gas, don’t weigh much and they are cordless for easier use. You can edge a 20’ by 40’ patio or 30’ of sidewalk in a few minutes if the blades are sharp and clean. These tools can require a lot of physical labor, however, and if you aren’t in the best shape or are in the later years of life, this tool might give you little more than an aching back, sore wrists and exhaustion.
The electric trimmer is the next step up. These tools are not expensive and they are very easy to use. They will remove the excess taller grass by slicing it with a whirling plastic string. The piece holding the string is easy to replace and will last for several weeks or even months and only cost a few dollars to replace.
Electric trimmers can also work at different angles and different areas that the manual trimmers cannot operate within. If can be tough to use a pole trimmer to remove grass around a shed, for example, but an electric trimmer will work great for this occasion. If you have been debating between the two, here are some reasons why you should choose one over the other.
If you have grass that goes around a big rock or a lawn with scalloped bricks, you shouldn’t use a manual pole edger. You will want to use an electric tool. The string style is perfect for these circumstances and will not damage the bricks, and will also remove the grass easily.
You can also look for the gas-powered motor with a power edger. They are noisier and weigh more, but they don’t have a cord to get in your way and work great. For that reason, there are no restrictions where you can take this tool. If you have a large yard or an area where you don’t have an outlet, these are the right machines for you.
You can find machines that don’t have a cord so you don’t have to lug it around and make the job unpleasant. The gas-powered trimmer will work wonders in these areas. They have a lot more power, so if you have an area with thick bush, weeds and other debris, you can whack it down and do the job correctly. Gas-powered machines cost more and aren’t as great for the environment, but they do last for years and are a great investment for your lawn or garden.
