Photographic Memory Books - How to Store Image Information
Photographic memory books are a great tool to use to improve and enhance your memory capabilities. Often confused with eidetic memory, photographic memory is not the ability to study a picture and then remember the image in vivid detail. Eidetic memory is often seen in children, though this skill only allows them to remember the image in detail for a few minutes.
Photographic memory books focus on methods that help train you not to see images, but instead, teach you ways to store information so that it is easy to recall. Photographic memory is essentially the ability to store details from different types of sources, such as music, pictures or words, and then have the capability of recalling those details.
Songs and rhymes are a great way to memorize things. If you think back to learning the alphabet, chances are that you were taught the ‘abc’ song as a child. Using music or rhyme makes learning a more interesting process than standard repetition, so the information is more likely to be retained. Photographic memory books teach you how to use association and repetition in order to remember, and recall, information.
If you look through a couple of photographic memory books, you will notice that the techniques in the books are often different. This is because everyone learns differently, and one technique will not suit everyone. Some people find a variety of methods work for them, while others will stick to one method. Photographic memory books are generally written by people who have used the techniques described, so there is a good chance that if you try the techniques, you will see an improvement in your memory.
If a particular technique in a photographic memory book doesn’t work, don’t get discouraged. Find another book with different methods, and try again. Photographic memory books are not uni-sized. You need to find the book, and the methods, that work for you. You may need to try several books before you find a book that has techniques that work successfully for you, or you may benefit from using several techniques taken from a couple of different books.
Most people set improving their memory as a high priority, so it is an area that has had a lot of research. Along with photographic memory books, there are also medications and natural remedies available that claim to help improve memory. Again, as everyone is an individual, medications and natural remedies work well for some people, and not at all for others. Don’t give up though. Read through some photographic memory books and look at the techniques described. If you need to, adapt some of the methods and then implement them into your life.
