Simple Games to Improve Memory at Home
Do you have a bad memory and believe that’s just the way you are, and there’s nothing you can do to change it? A good memory can be developed with special memory training methods. The great thing is, a lot of these exercises are in the forms of games. To win at the game, you need to use your memory. So the more often you play, the more your memory improves.
Look in any toy section and you will see a lot of the games on display involve using your memory. The internet also has a huge variety of games that help to enhance your memory. To begin with though, you don’t even need to visit a toy shop or surf the internet to come up with games that will help you to improve your memory.
Remember Simon?
As children, most of us played a version of the game where different colored lights flashed, and the longer you played, the faster they flashed, and you had to remember the order of the colors. What most of us didn’t realize while we were having fun was that we were improving our memory. This particular game may not exist any more, but there are plenty of games available that are similar. Many of the games available now include light, images and sound clips, making the games more interesting. Playing one of these games is a great way to spend some time with family or friends and also helps to increase your memory at the same time.
Memory Card Games
A card game almost everyone knows – aptly name ‘memory’ – requires you to choose two cards (which are in a face down position). The idea is to try and find the matching pairs. The longer and more often you play this game, the more your memory improves.
Many variations on this game are possible and all of them will help to increase your memory. You’ll find that over time, if you practice memory games regularly, you’ll win all the time because your memory will have improved. However, your improved memory won’t just help you win at memory games – you’ll find that you are able to remember things like instructions, names, addresses and phone numbers without writing them down – a definite bonus in any professional setting.
To customize a game, make your own, using index cards, and draw matching pictures or words on them. This sort of game is also useful in a classroom setting. Kids will have fun while they are improving their memory without realizing it. There are no limitations to what sort of games you can use to improve your memory. The more you practice, the quicker your memory will improve, all from just playing some games.
