Home Security - Safe
A safe is a great way to give added protection to your most valuable possessions.
Anything that is important or valuable to you can be safely stored in a safe. From important documents and rare family photos to stamp collections and baseball cards, anything that you could not imagine losing will only be more secure if placed inside a safe.
As you might have guessed, safes are available in a variety of sizes and price ranges.
One option would be a small wall safe. They are a nice place to stash a few valuables, and they look cool too. Just like in the movies, they can be hidden behind paintings or wall hangings, or any other out of the way location. There are also slightly altered versions that are designed to go in the floor instead.
You can find safes in any size you want, from desk drawer sized all the way up to entire rooms. Larger, room sized safes are commonly referred to as 'panic rooms'. Anything you wish to protect, from rifles and shotguns to jewelry, can be safely stored in one of the wide variety of safes.
They are also made from a wide variety of materials. Some are fairly simple, with a hard plastic shell and a key or combination lock. Others have titanium alloy walls up to an inch thick. These types, as well as being harder to break into, may also provide protection from fire. Some offer better heat resistance than others, so you need to be aware of the differences to avoid melting of your valuable property.
The effectiveness of some safes depends, in large part, to their ability to remain concealed. Some safes take the appearance of common household items, such as coffee pots and other ordinary items. These are commonly called 'can safes'. They would probably be easy to break into, but who would think to look for valuables inside a coffee pot. These types of safes are typically quite affordable for those on a limited budget. Once the safe is in place, don't defeat the purpose of it by telling too many people.
Safe manufacturers have taken advantage of technology by developing electronic and computer controlled safes. These systems allow you to program the safe to be opened only at certain times. This is similar to the way bank vaults are set up.
There are numerous features available on electronic safes. One nice feature is the fingerprint sensor, which allows only certain people access to the safe. This way you don't have to worry about losing or forgetting a combination or key.
Whether you need a small plastic safe for storing some important documents, or a room sized version to protect your gun collection, there is a safe out there to fit your need. With the number of options available, you should also be able to find the right safe to fit your budget as well.
